This was so helpful! I made this for a friend, and it was so easy! I found that I couldn't sew over the boning when attaching the straps; is there a trick?
Try adjusting the length of your stitch. It should sew along more smoothly if the needle pierces the holes in the boning rather than the plastic itself.
I am a complete sewing novice and have been searching online for a while now for the best (free:)) nursing pattern to make as a gift. Your pattern BY FAR is the easiest to follow. Love the idea of pockets... the only change I think I'll make is to do one pocket and one terry cloth corner to help clean up baby dribbles! Thank you so much for this pattern.

Instead of fighting with opening D ring why not slide it onto strip before folding in half and sewing? Just a thought.
